I think you are right, I dislike this fact, but it is unfortunately the reality. Couple years ago, I asked the supermarket where we usually do our shopping to send me the data collected with our "point-card". Among other things, we got a PDF with 180 pages, listing every product we bought the previous 6 years, with time, location, price, etc.
I was weird looking through the document. 😐
