Today I crashed my car for the first time; thank God nothing bad happened beyond losing a carton of eggs and a broken bumper.

I was driving down a street, and as I crossed the traffic light, a motorcycle came speeding out, running a red light. I managed to hit the brakes to slow down as much as I could, and thanks to that, the rider made enough progress so that I only hit the back of the motorcycle. He didn't fall off the bike and wasn't injured.

I pulled over to ask him if he was okay, and he said yes. I noticed that a light on his motorcycle was broken. He asked me if the car was fine (I hadn't checked yet), and I told him it was. He looked like a humble, hard-working man. When I returned to my car, I checked and saw the bumper was a bit damaged, but nothing serious. When I got inside, I saw the eggs I had just bought spilled all over the floor.

Thank God nothing bad happened; the story could have been very different and much more serious.

I don't know how it is in other countries, but here in Venezuela, if something had happened to the motorcyclist, I would have had to cover his medical expenses, and since he was at fault, he would have had to repair his motorcycle.
