7/🧵Mike Johnson, Republican Speaker of the House, says that #AI companies must be primarily responsible for AI safety. Uh-huh. Do you trust #ArtificialIntelligence firms run by #billionaires and #oligarchs to do the right thing? I sure don’t. Sounds to me a lot like #Republican leadership is punting, as usual, trusting predatory businesses and the ‘open market’ to guarantee the safety of the most powerful #technology ever developed. I’m not reassured. With Obama and Democrat House leader Jeffries both calling for oversight and controls, I’m confident that the #Democrats will do a better job of protecting us than the #TrumpRegime.
