and i'm sure the nkvd had a part in the story as well. and many other organisations and people. all governments operate by the same rules. this isn't an apology for it, it's just a dispelling of the idea that USA spook and other involvement isn't necessarily coordinative or controlling in the outcome. influential, for sure, but that's a substantial step down from a conspiracy theory.
