We have approximately half the land mass of the entire contiguous US with the population of Wyoming. That means a huge amount of virgin forest with no road access or meaningful forestry management. And the interior gets extremely hot in summer, what with the sun not setting and all that. It's actually an extremely mild fire season so far for us this year.
