I first used a computer in high school in 1965. I went with my math club on an overnight trip to Queens University two hours away, punched out cards for my pre-prepared Fortran program, loaded my cards into the IBM mainframe's input hopper, and received a printout from a line printer. I didn't know it, but the man in charge of that computer centre, Mers Kutt, would later invent and market the world's first portable microcomputer.
