I am still concerned about the long-term impact of #COVID19 reinfections, but I understand why so many people have grown apathetic.
In the midst of a summer surge, the level of COVID in US wastewater (and hence the number of infections) is 50% lower than last year on this date and 80% lower than in 2024.
The number of people hospitalized now is 97% lower than a year ago and 98.5% lower than in 2024.
I still take care from the chronic risks of COVID, but I'm still happy risks have plunged. 1/2
