I think of the toxic maxis as something like an immune system for bitcoin. Sometimes people, especially newbies, need to see strong reactions against shitcoiners by established bitcoiners to not get sucked into their scams.

You also generally want a distribution of views to exist on both/all sides of your own, to help spot errors in your own views.
