Fair point, the start of the next day's stage isn't always close to the end of the previous day's, and even when it is the teams can't always get hotels very close to either. If the team cars need a quick top up during a long transit to/from the hotel that's OK though, the important thing is that they make it through the stage without needing to recharge and pretty much any large sedan/station wagon/crossover SUV on the market now has at least twice the range needed to do that.
