Update: patches are out. Fixed versions: PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35. Everything older is affected, and PHP 7 and 5 won't get a fix (check whether your distro backports it).
The bug: when PHP aborts a request halfway (for example when it runs out of memory), it could later trust internal data that was only half set up. mod_php setups are the most exposed; PHP-FPM is less so, because it kills the worker when a request fails early.
There are already reports of exploit attempts. If you run PHP, update now, not tomorrow.
