Sounds like you will enjoy the Freaknomics episode with Jessica Reidl (and perhaps also their episode on "Sludge").
I am very much in favor of supporting people who need retirement welfare because they cannot work or otherwise afford healthcare — that is not what terms like "welfare...king" or "welfare...queen" refer to (as far as I know).
Those terms refer to people that retire (or remain underemployed) well before they are unable to continue healthcare-providing work and that end up consuming more than they contributed. Many of those people do not even need the retirement welfare (because they make more than enough while working).
So we may not actually disagree. Of course, if we do disagree, that is not a problem with me: I certainly want to consider counter-arguments.
