A motorist taken to court for picking up roadkill to eat has criticised his prosecution.
Guy Carpenter, 42, saw a dead deer on the central reservation of the A66 at Greta Bridge, Co Durham, on June 7. He pulled his vehicle over and hoisted the deer on his shoulders to take it home.
However, he was seen by officers in a passing police car and warned that he was breaking the law, later being summonsed to court.
