and second -- time really is hard, especially if you take regional variation into account. My British FiL regularly confuses me by saying "half three" which means "half past three" rather than (in German) "half before three". And in German there's regional variation with respect to how you treat the quarter.

All that to say: this is an area where it's really easy to make mistakes.
