I was also trying to introduce foundational examples. nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyd968gmewwp6kyqpq97llnzpwfsg9h3mjcre307caj8mh8ea7v55395635qlu6qq6fd9q0vwjmx (nprofile…wjmx) had covered PP, OOP, and FP, I tried to introduce other foundational paradigms, but which are also practical to use on modern computers and so would be good for the purpose of educating ones self:
Python: multi-paradigm (procedural+OOP, like C and Smalltalk), but with GC and a syntax optimized for scripting
SQL: declarative, relational DB
Prolog: logic/relational programming
Scheme: untyped lambda calculus with prefix notation and hygienic macros (thus is fairly different from FP languages like Standard ML)
Elixer: statically typed concurrent programming
Forth: stack-based RPN programming
J: concatenative array programming but easier to use on modern computers than APL
