A Slow Worm!!! (Anguis fragilis) Although it looks like a snake this is actually a species of legless lizard. It shares similar dental structures, visible ear openings with lizards and can also shed their tails when threatened - this individual looks like it's dropped its tail in the past and is in the process of regrowth. This is later in the year than I'd expect to bump into one but it has been a particularly warm year. The Burren, County Clare, Ireland.
