Not sure you understood my mention of X. I see it as outdated and don't care about it. You are suggesting you can capture single screens on Wayland, but I am specifically referring to being able to "snip" like in the modern sense of screen capturing.

Most people are capturing parts of the screen, and not all of it. I don't buy having to use an editor after the capture as acceptable.
