The EU has updated its list of water pollutants to include certain PFAS “forever chemicals”, pesticides and pharmaceuticals, while addressing microplastics, antimicrobial-resistance indicators and sensitive groundwater ecosystems for the first time. Three big EU laws are getting updated accordingly, with member states required to transpose the changes by December 2027.
