Kids do go through random growth spurts - in both directions, not necessarily at the same time. Just to make it *really* hard to tell what's "normal" and what's concerning....
I happen to have a disused [adult-sized but adjustable-height seat] exercycle, if you wanted to see if he might enjoy making wheels go round.
