So why is it that this Ortofon 2m Red I inherited works better than any of my collection (was using it to test something out and ended up just carrying on with it). It isn’t the best sounding cartridge I own but it is the best able to cope with some of my awful records and doesn’t hum like my Grado Red. Took a bit of setting up as it is much taller than any of my other cartridges but seems OK. I was hoping to use an old OM30 on this table to match the set up I have at work but it didn’t work at all for some reason (it’s been in a box for over ten years).

Anything that plays this infamous RSD TesseracT version of Polaris is with the zero pounds I paid for it.

It doesn’t sound tonally perfect (and isn’t as detailed as some of my other carts) but it makes bad records sound OK which is fine by me. #vinyl
