I've had no contact with any immediate family for over twenty years. Apparently there are two others who are still alive, but I've not heard from them in all that time.
My only contact is with a niece... who surprised me when she reached out after all that time to say 'Hi' and to let me know her father (my brother) had died. Theirs was a strained relationship so she wasn't overwrought by any of it.
Many things have cost time and effort, but the final product? That's all me.
