nullr0ute writes on nullr0ute.com that the Raspberry Pi 5 has worked out of the box on Fedora since the Fedora 44 release. It is described as a Minimum Viable Product: the key pieces work, with caveats. It provides an accelerated desktop along with storage, network and USB. Sound is not supported yet, along with a number of other things.
Fedora 44 needs a temporary workaround at boot, passed as a kernel argument through arm-image-installer. That goes away once you update to the latest kernel and firmware. Fedora 45 does not need it at all, so the suggestion is to grab a Fedora 45 release candidate and flash it the same way you would for any other Raspberry Pi, including to NVMe.
Since the Fedora 44 release in May, more features have gone upstream from several contributors, and those changes are making their way back into Fedora. Support for the Raspberry Pi 500 and CM5 is planned.
