Really interesting video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsrYkUFOB-UMinimum Wage Is A Good Thing Actually, it's just that all of the political arguments for and against are completely missing the point.
The argument "make bosses pay people more" is obviously rubbish and everybody who isn't a brainrotted leftiod knows this.
The argument against minimum wage: "they're just gonna install kiosks and lay you off" is actually the argument FOR it, because humans shouldn't be doing the work that can be just as well done by kiosks!
So minimum wage has the effect of pushing investment into capital, which improves productivity - which is ACTUALLY the path to a better future for everyone.
---
France's problem is that their tax system creates an inventive rut right at minimum wage. If you hire someone, you have to pay (a lot of) taxes for having them employed. However, if you only pay them minimum wage, those taxes are almost nil. So there is never any incentive to replace a person with a kiosk because minimum wage persons are, effectively, subsidized.
Unfortunately, trying to roll this back will face a lot of political backlash because minimum wage workers are exactly the people who are most prepared to go rioting in the streets.
I think Marine Le Pen has a unique opportunity to unwind this situation in a clever way - and that would be by making a special (much higher) minimum wage for immigrants. The argument being that France does not need immigrants to work minimum wage jobs, and take those jobs away from struggling Frenchmen. The immigrants France *wants* are high income knowledge workers who will make lots of value for the French economy.
