see also O and 0. Some of us do use fonts that make the difference crystal clear because I have quite enough to be getting on with without having to guess if that's a uppercase i, lowercase L, or a nuneral 1. But the Internet jumped wholesale onto sans serif fonts because they look "cleaner". 🙄
