The Israeli Chief of Staff ordered legal action against NAZA today. He hasn't watched the film (does he really needs to ?!) He based this on press coverage and called it "blood libels."
The Foreign Ministry, also having not watched it, told #Haaretz they're worried the #IDF won't be able to refute the testimonies and they acknowledge concern the film will accompany Israel's image for years… you don’t say 🙄
But wait, there’s more: they're considering comparing Venice to awarding Leni Riefenstahl … 🫨 Israelis should really stop evoking #Nazis and their friends, it just begs comparing Israel’s actions to 1930s #Germany.

You can’t deport the facts…
#Israel is in crisis mode over #NAZA, the documentary built on #IDF officers' testimony that won the Special Jury Prize in Venice after a 25-minute standing ovation. The Film Council called an "emergency meeting" to rethink festival scoring. Culture Minister Miki Zohar now wants to strip the directors, Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, of their citizenship. The official line is that NAZA is a foreign-funded defamation of the army, based on anonymous sources, crossing a red line.

Three days before Venice, Haaretz published the same claims, sourced to an on-record reservist drone operator who goes by "Nir". If the people in the film stay anonymous, that probably says more about the danger of speaking than about the strength of the claim.
