They were smarmy, dishonest, nasty people the entire time. The entire god damned time.
They are very clearly not interested in resolving this amicably. Everyone's telling me to try it "da right way" but that way didn't work. It didn't work because they were never at any point operating from principles or anything other than narrative control.
