When the DOJ indicted Julian Assange on Espionage Act charges -- for doing what good investigative journalists routinely do (he didn't "hack" anything) -- it was clear this would be used as precedent against other journalists.
But most corporate journalists didn't see Assange as a "real" journalist (even though he's broken far more stories than they ever will), so they either cheered or didn't care. Now it's being used against them. I'm of course opposed but there's also karmic justice here.
