When I lived in that "reduced income" apartment complex, there were gangs of black kids that would run around all day and into the night, weather allowing. The little shits would destroy things, seemingly out of boredom. For instance, they destroyed many of the bushes and small trees planted around the complex ... just because. Broke them branch by branch, over the summer. Trash was tossed about on the grounds, even though dumpsters were never more than a short walk away. On hot summer nights they would go around and flip all the breakers for the various buildings. Eventually I bought my own padlock to keep them from shutting off my building's power.

Those glass panels would have eventually been destroyed even if they weren't blocking the way into the trains, even if they were some decretive thing and out of the way. It's more than bulldozing their way through to get something free. There seems to be an innate disregard for or even hostility towards property, structure, and beauty.
