OH I am sorry to hear about the not being well and the mice in the engine but I am also a HUGE fan of Shaun Tan.
I have a postcard of his. It features a giant dark metal robot delicately reading a tiny book. Both the robot and the book are on fire. It just feels like the perfect metaphor for trying to do a PhD (as I was) when I had a new BP diagnosis. He is such a talented illustrator and world-maker.
