"content": "Humanitarian aid treats symptoms. To tackle the cause something different is needed. \n\nCrises that are caused politically by governments, need political solutions. Those in power are shifting their responsibilities onto civilian organisations and humanitarian aid workers. What we need are political solutions for safe and legal migration routes. \n\nThe roots of these global crises lie in global injustice, exploitation, politically driven violence and natural catastrophes driven by man-made climate change, as seen in regions such as #Sudan, #Yemen, #Palestine, #Congo, Libya, and the Central Mediterranean. \n\nHumanitarian assistance is essential in both emergencies and protracted crises, but is only a temporary patch without political solutions that address conflict, persecution, and climate impacts.\n\nToday and every day, we honour the humanitarians who have been killed while carrying out this vital work, and call for justice for those who target aid operations.
