I will install & use linux for the first time in my life (on my Lenovo Thinkpad P70).
1) office a.s.o.
Am using windows atm with libre office, thunderbird, firefox, gimp.
After some online research I guess #LinuxMint ist best for me (easy change/usage). Maybe #Ubuntu. But #debian may be to difficult for me.?
2) audio-/musicproduction
Am using windows with ableton (midi+audio) and rme fireface 400 (will maybe buy new, guess fireface ucx ii). After some online research I found several linux distros made for audio-/musicproduction like #ubuntustudio, #kxstudio, #archlinux, #fedorajam a.s.o.
As ableton is not available on linux i have to learn a new daw, i will.
Questions:
Is it possible/recommended to use linux mint for audio-/musicproduction?
Or should I start (as a linux newbir) with a special linux for audio-/musicproduction (which one?)? And will this have office, mail, browser, gimp too?
Thx to Linux Audio Development (npub1mg7…e9qy) ,
https://linuxaudio.dev/frequently-asked-questions was a great help.
