I've probably told this story, but some years back, a family member for whom I am the designated health advocate was hospitalized with a critical issue.
At a certain point, this person's metrics fell a fraction of a percentage below the critical level. It was midnight, and the on-duty nurse had been on duty for 24 hours, and she’d been told to discharge my relative before leaving.
I had to hold my ground, and she tried to get me to back down saying insurance might not cover it.
