I put #NetBSD 11.0 on a 5 Y.O. laptop, with help. I'm experienced with BSD, back to the floppy-based 386BSD/Dr. Dobbs.
Some things are great, some grate. Notes:

1. Wifi doesn't work natively.
2. Closing the lid doesn't suspend.
3. Battery life is weak, but i think that's their age, not OS suckage.
4. Video is a little choppy sometimes video streams fine.
If you're a n00b from the Windows world, this might be a setback. If you're from the Linux family, less shocking.
