"Philo semite=non who has a deep interest, love, and respect for Jews & Israel"

As a recovering philo-Semite (grew up in a Judenfrei area, only came into contact with them for education and career, then I read Kevin MacDonald's trio and became an anti-Semite for the same reason as he, immigration), I don't think this concept necessarily extends to Israel.

I certainly don't "love" Israel and I'm not sure I ever did (ditto for Jews, like is as strong as it got), but I have a "deep interest" and respect for its military prowess.

The most modern war I've deeply studied is the Yom Kippur War in 1973, between its first _tactical_ use of mobile SAMs, and first generation ATGMs (Egyptian grunts continued to add to the reputation by using the Sagger _which is guided by a joystick!!!_), and the overwhelming odds on its eastern front's massive tank battle.

And of course a "deep interest" pretty much became required post 9/11 :saddest:

But there are other lessons to be learned, like how the IDF went from being mostly skunked in Lebanon and betrayed by corruption at home in 2006, to removing Hezbollah as an quasi-existential threat (of keeping Israelis pinned to shelters), a crown jewel in Iran's Shia Crescent.

And Iranians are fairly smart, not African-American dumb like the Arabs surrounding Israel, also don't have their organizational pathologies (officer corps, fear of coups).

They build a serious strategic arrangement against the Little Satan and under Netanyahu the IDF systemically defeated it in detail.

No small thing, and it says something that despite at minimum his implicit responsibility for the October 7th catastrophe, on Tuesday his Jewish coalition beat the Jewish one against him 53-48 seats in their parliament.

You can also admire him and his two brothers for their entirely voluntary service in uniform in the IDF's equivalent to the SAS, a very big difference from our leaders since WWII veteran G. H. W. Bush or W (two years active duty learning how to fly an interceptor that was useless in Vietnam by the time he finished).

A very different political outcome from Golda Meir's and her coalition (so far) after 1973. She was out in eight months, and in 1977 the Left lost the executive and legislative lock it enjoyed since the founding in 1948.

Also interesting like Brazil has been lately, a kritarchy (rule by judges since the Left refused to accept its defeat), and lawfare against political opponents, like the US neither is really a republic anymore.

Which is not to say there aren't a great many reasons to dislike Israel, like on criminal matters that touch on the US or worse. See for example the binary options scam and how long it took to nominally Shut It Down. And non-STEM Jews are no prize.
