Today I learned of the "Punishing Signal", an attempt by Mumbai police to deter the city's jeets from ceaselessly honking at red lights in a futile effort to make them turn green.

A visible counter, counting down until the light turns green. Another display for the current average noise level. If the noise level detected at the intersection exceeded 85 decibels, the wait time would increase.

It backfired. Whenever the counter ended up lengthening the wait, they'd just honk more.
