FTA: A damning UK Covid-19 Inquiry report, published in October 2026, concluded that care home residents were sacrificed to protect NHS capacity, resulting in over 43,000 deaths between March 2020 and July 2022.
Inquiry chair Baroness Heather Hallett stated that the adult social care sector was treated as an “afterthought” and that the mantra of “protecting the NHS” came at the expense of vulnerable residents and care workers.
