The Americans get ragged on for a lot of things, but in a popular tourist area walking in Italy, the utter disregard for an elderly person in our company is revealing. Mostly Europeans.
This would not happen in the US at anything near this level. Not a chance.
Part of it is the area and crowd but there is no excuse for it.
Also, unless you step out on a cross walk, they won’t stop to let this person cross.
Small town Italians are very friendly if you try to talk with them.
