"content": "Joe Pye weed (Eutrochium maculatum)\n\nBut who is Joe Pye? It seems to be the anglophone name of a very interesting Mohican, Joseph Shauquethqueat, living at the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century, in Massachusetts and New York. Not clear he had anything to do with the plant, maybe only by association.\n\nA scholarly article about botany, history and First Nations, with Latin names and a critical eye. Perfect 🤓 \n\nhttps://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/p/pod/dod-idx/joe-pye-joe-pyes-law-and-joe-pye-weed-the-history.pdf?c=mbot;idno=0497763.0056.303;format=pdf\n\n#flowers #bloomscrolling #nativeplants #wildflowers #botany #history #firstnations #photography\n\nhttps://media.beige.party/media_attachments/files/117/076/622/867/729/903/original/840bc5c6df091bee.jpg\nhttps://media.beige.party/media_attachments/files/117/076/622/062/277/012/original/634719c4e4724399.jpg",
