The biggest issue is that the Right and the Left have been in a cold civil war since before the founding, and as I noted about Rabin often enough a lethal one.
Expanding on that, the Left lost their lock on political power from the founding in 1948 through 1977, after their disastrous and high causality handling of the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
So being the Left they refused to accept the "will of the people," instead captured the court system to the extent it already wasn't their's, and extended its remit all the way to installing commissars inside the government that's nominally elected by the people. Oh, yeah, no formal constitution, although that's perhaps the norm for Westminster parliamentary systems.
The country was convulsed much worse than the US currently is by the Right starting to roll this back in the months before October 7th. How long the Right's patience on this will last is unclear; see also the blatant lawfare against Netanyahu. Even citizens who don't like him should pay attention, this is one way republics end.
They're holding elections right now; the ultra-Jews are almost entirely a problem to the extent they're a key numerical faction foe a Right wing governing coalition. I suspect a legit majority of the country would approve of bringing the hammer for their general refusal to serve in the IDF. As you would expect in a long war like this as Netanyahu and company has defeated in detail Iran's proxies, with only Iran is left.
The "settler" ethnic cleansing issue is a problem, but post-October 7th is exactly what you would expect. Again, by the old rules, irredentist Palestinians in the Gaza and the West Bank would have long been eradicated, the men killed, the women and children sold as slaves. Today it's a foreign policy problem.

So, yeah, the threat of a century or almost so long cold civil war turning into a hot one, after their external threats have been significantly whittled down? When Leftists are one of the factions? Must be a day that ends in 'y'.
