Thank you, you made me cry. Your words are so touching. Thank you for understanding me. I hope everyone is like you and like
I hope this works and that everything improves for the better.
has a new recipe blog:

She is displaced in Gaza. As I understand the project, she wants to share her recipes in return for donations. I love it. It feels like an act of resistance.

I have been wondering why Mastodon responded so enthusiastically to Mastodon for Harris, raising over half a million if I recall, but has failed to respond in the same way to the actual individuals here on mastodon who desperately need support. I'm sure most of the support for Harris was because she wasn't Trump. People didn't think, go girl, bomb Gaza harder. Quite the opposite, I'm sure. But right here through Mastodon you can make some reparative gesture and show some basic solidarity, yet you don't.

Angham's blog gives me a glimpse of an answer. We don't want to see the people in Gaza as humans. The raw humanity, whether in the bleeding wounds or the possibility of conversation is just too much. You engage with that and suddenly it is not your world anymore. It is full of other people. You can't say, 'well I hate Israel, but its only Eurovision' or 'but Man City play such astonishing football' or even 'yes, she's an enthusiastic genocidaire, but Trump's worse'. This is not to say that you must boycott Eurovision or not vote, it is simply that you can't treat the world as only containing affluent Europeans and Americans. It changes everything. It is easier to say, 'the need is too great. I can't do anything'.

That is why the blog is an act of resistance. It insists on a world in which Angham is human.
