I posit that in my experience, the majority of folk choosing a MIT style license is "I may want to make money off it", or "but GPL is bad for business" or some variation thereof, not "my goal is for high quality software to reduce/prevent human suffering". At least that is what I heard most often; the sample may not be representative.
It doesn't invalidate what you said. It just reinforces my belief that neither licensing scheme is "right".
Anyway, I'm going to drop this.
