My main use case for it is for using locally in ways where every node being a repeater is the ideal.

I think the idea of being able to reliably have conversations from Hermiston to Seattle or wherever is cool, but that's something I would use amateur radio for.

With Meshtastic I'm looking to do things like being able to text between cars without cell service when caravanning, or between family members when camping, or keeping tabs on my daughter as she wanders the neighborhood but is too young for a cell phone.
