I doubt the iron flow battery will still be interesting after adding in the cost of the nickel. Sodium batteries are something like $50/kWh (and supposedly will fall to 20/kWh eventually), so anything involving chemicals that are even somewhat costly starts to get into the same order of magnitude and at that point you might as well just buy commercial batteries that are already sure to work.
