yeahhh I've found that diphenhydramine can do that to you if you take too much (I've found even a normal dose is "too much" for both me and my Daddy)
It usually leaves me feeling sluggish and out of it unless I take half a child's dose
He just doesn't take it at all anymore cause it ALWAYS leaves him feeling like that
