The age of imageboards is probably going to end. In the past, the greatest "practical" utility of 4chan (to the greater Web outside), was being a source of niche memes that people spent hours to make. Something like "an anime girl who burned down her house after running Crysis" or "A cyberpunk banner image that says 'eliminate the state' (quote-mined from djb's SPHINCS+ lecture)". The Hitler-posting edgelords were the "price", rationalized by the scarcity of memes. Nowadays one can make an entire movie with LLMs, and without paying the "edgelord price".
