Met a few German women who survived WWII at different levels of the social spectrum. One from East Berlin who lost her husband and son. She came to the US in the ‘50s. Others had the money to flee. One’s family fled Germany to the Netherlands, then to France and finally to the US. The US TV advertising industry was 2/3 German Jewish people in the ‘50s and ‘60s.
