I’m writing an intro to Git branches for beginners to branching and it’s really interesting to try to explain how to reconcile:

- the “tree” mental model (main is the “trunk”, other branches “branch off” main)
- how Git actually represents branches (“a name + a commit ID”)

I think it’s really interesting to talk about how the way Git represents branches is a _design choice_ and what the pros and cons of that choice are
