Watching this reminded me of exploring similar “surface” places with a little broken pottery and discarded points as a kid near where my parents live around twenty years ago (nowhere near the Grand Canyon to be fair, but within walking distance of their house, there’s similar constructions up on the mesas like the style of ruins that the video narrator finds. As well, there’s some Archaic period cave sites on closed off county land that I have never been to, but vaguely remember some boys in my year in high school had gone and visited).
The places I used to explore and hike are somewhat still there as some are county open space, but a lot of it became yet another cheap subdivision. I wonder how many places rich in human history here were bulldozed and built over. Might have to see if any of the arrowheads and things I saw as a kid are still there over Thanksgiving.
