I spent a few minutes on several popular LLM portals asking factual questions to humor my friends in a chat group (i.e. for the lulz) and even just 4–5 turns show how sycophantic these things still are. A constant stream of “Ohh you’re right!” “Yeah that’s it!” and “OMG of course” type responses basically agree with anything I suggest, even though I’m asking for factual information.
Folks, these things overfit on your questions. You’re chatting with a funhouse mirror. You’re talking to yourself.
