Teachers have been murdered in France by Islamists. I can't blame people for not wanting to go into the profession.
We have a French teacher on staff, the final exams for qualification are brutal, a lot of them do not pass. They also don't get to chose where they work. Once they are qualified, they are assigned a position and it can be anywhere in France where there is an opening, which can be close to home or at the other end of the country. The salaries are shit and a lot of the schools are in bad shape.
