> I eventually contacted Alpha Micro directly through their current website to see what they might have still in stock, or if they had a VAR to recommend for parts. By this point Alpha Microsystems and its remaining IP had been sold to a private consortium and reconstituted as Alpha Microsystems LLC, with the original California business entity ceasing to exist, and it was this new Alpha Micro that I conversed with. I got to spend a couple pleasant hours doing a phone interview with one of AM LLC's principals, which I used to update the website and reported on in our prior entry, and he referred me to a longtime Alpha Micro vendor that they still partner with for existing installations. It took a few months, but this vendor was able to locate what appeared to be another E300 with working boards and we negotiated a price and getting it shipped.
this is fascinating because of the implications; old proprietary computer systems end up like defunct car manufacturers, you have companies that exist to service products of a company that folded years ago, buying up anything that people upgrade away from, selling it to existing customers, presumably combing ebay and such,
